New York City Office Staff Directed to Work from Home

Many of
you should have received the NYS Alerts and DASNY email issued around 8:00 p.m.
on Sunday, March 15, 2020. There was a lot of info. I thought it might be helpful
to summarize these for you.

  • If you WORK in the following counties or boroughs and are nonessential staff, you are to work from home: Rockland; Westchester; Bronx; Manhattan; Staten Island; Kings; Queens; Nassau; and Suffolk. 
    • Essential staff MUST report to work.
      • Essential staff is DASNY employees that work on a field site.
        • For the purpose of this directive, essential employees are defined as anyone whose job function is essential to the effective operation of their agency or authority, or who must be physically present to perform their job, or who is involved in the COVID-19 emergency response.
      • NYCO staff do NOT report to work.
    • Work from home means to complete work remotely.  Questions about your duties should be communicated to your supervisor, manager or director.
    • One Penn Plaza is open, and employees that wish to retrieve files, equipment, etc. to work remotely may do so.
    • Employees directed to work from home will NOT charge accruals.
  • The directive to work remotely is for two weeks or further notice.
  • If you LIVE in one of the counties listed above and work in a county
    NOT listed, you are expected to report to work.
  • All
    other employees not listed above are expected to report to work.

School closings

  • At
    this time, you are expected to charge accruals if you stay home to take care of
    your family.

    • Contact HR if you have
      a specific situation that requires special accommodations.

Precautionary / Mandatory Quarantine

  • Individuals will not be
    required to charge accruals if they are on mandatory or precautionary
    quarantine, per previous emails.
